Tim Gilliland, PsyD
As the Program Director for CIS FRP, Dr. Gilliland has over 41 years of experience in health care and human services as both a direct care provider and an administrator of programs and services in Ohio, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii, and California.
For nearly 10 years, Dr. Gilliland has incorporated the new discoveries in neuro-science into his work educating patients, their families and staff on how the brain is significantly involved in the development of the presenting problems as well as the solutions.
Alex Jennings, PsyD
Dr. Jennings has a PsyD in Forensic Psychology and is a licensed psychologist. She has worked as a prison psychologist, social worker and transitions counselor. She believes in treating the whole person and is dedicated to helping chronic pain patients regain control of their lives and find happiness.
Dr. Jennings helps patients overcome the depression, anxiety and grief that accompany chronic pain via goal-setting, activity management, relationship re-engagement and identifying new roles.
Claire Scott, MSW, PsyD
Dr. Scott received a Master of Social Work from CSU, Sacramento in 2005, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from CSPP/Alliant University in 2011, and has been licensed as a psychologist since 2012. She has over 12 years of experience providing therapeutic services in various inpatient and outpatient medical settings.
Dr. Scott believes in working collaboratively with individuals to help them identify and utilize their personal strengths to gain the skill and knowledge they need to live a life consistent with their personal values and goals.
With over 20 years experience in public health, Liane Quirk is a health educator teaching nutrition, vocation, therapeutic art and mindfulness. She has developed the curriculum which is tailored towards chronic pain patients.
Liane’s classes are interactive, with an element of fun included into each session. She also introduces the principles and benefits of mindfulness by providing strategies and tools that patients can use outside of CIS.
Linda Burkhardt, Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist
Linda Burkhardt, OTR, CHT graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1975. She chose to specialize in the treatment of the upper extremity and in 1991 became a Certified Hand Therapist having passed the first test offered in this area of care. She also is certified in IASTM ( instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization).
Linda has had experience in direct patient care, and administration of programs in Colorado, Wisconsin and California and believes that knowledge, compassion and work can help to achieve improved quality of life.
Phil Hixson, MSPT, DPT
Phil Hixson received his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from California State University Sacramento in 2001. Dr. Hixson went on to complete his Masters of Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at the University of the Pacific in 2004.
Having worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton and at Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Hixson has completed multiple orthopedic cervical, thoracic and lumbar long-term courses focusing on spine evaluation and treatment. He has also received certification in Graston technique IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization), SFMA (selective functional movement assessment), and McKenzie MDT (Mechanical diagnosis and Therapy).
Andrea Adams, Exercise Physiologist
As a certified Exercise Physiologist through ACSM for the past 20 years, Andrea has worked primarily with Chronic Pain and Functional Restoration Programs in Auburn, Folsom, Roseville and Sacramento. She greatly appreciates the knowledge gained in pre and post rehabilitation while working closely with Physical Therapists in Folsom, South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado Hills.
Andrea is a Cancer Exercise Specialist through ACSM and is certified in Pilates, Water Aerobics and Cardio Kick Boxing. She loves hiking in the Sierras, gardening and the San Francisco Giants!!
Working as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 30 years, Misty has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, acute rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities.
From her extensive experience within the field Misty has come to believe in empowering her patients to assume responsibility for increasing their functional capacity.
As the group fitness Coach and Personal trainer, Dan brings over 10 years of experience working with professional athletes and the best Physical therapists in the industry. He has developed his own custom workout system Called “MVMNT” that is a very low to non impact exercise program using various mobility, conditioning and strengthening exercises that can be modified specific to each client injuries.
Once a patient of Dr Shin, Dan developed a friendship and trust during his experience and is a true testament of CIS FRP’s success.
